I certainly don't want to defend someone flushing copies of the Quran down the tiolet. But this story is a good example of what Christians have to fear from new hate crimes laws- particularly ones that include homosexuality.
NEW YORK - A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday on hate-crime charges after he threw a Quran in a toilet at Pace University on two separate occasions, police said.
Stanislav Shmulevich of Brooklyn was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, both hate crimes, police said. It was unclear if he was a student at the school. A message left at the Shmulevich home was not immediately returned.
Now, the left has been arguing for years that "speech" includes the right to burn the American flag, but now flushing the Quran gets you arrested. It's exactly what we feared- special rights for minorities due to hate crimes legislation. Where are we headed with this flawed logic?
