I listened to a majority of Monday's Iraq war hearing and couldn't believe my ears. I realize that the Iraq war is divisive, but I was repulsed by some of the rhetoric I heard attacking the leader of our forces in Iraq, General Petraeus and our lead diplomat in Iraq, Ambassador Crocker. I understand that some Congressman may not agree with their strategy for the war and diplomatic relations in that part of the world, but the personal attacks on Gen. Patraeus, in particular, were sickening. It has even been reported that some Congressmen may have worked in collusion with www.moveon.org as they ran a full page ad in the New York Times calling Gen. Patraeus a traitor and a liar.
The one bright spot in a dismal day of unstatesmanlike childishness was Indiana's own U.S. Rep. Mike Pence. Kudos to the Congressman for his dedication to the "old book."
