Faith Leader Luncheon With Gov. Daniels

With this post I'm asking you to help me spread the word about the Faith Leaders' Luncheon featuring Gov. Mitch Daniels at noon, Tuesday, Aug 19th, at  Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria, 100 Byrd Way, Greenwood.

There is strong initial interest and we look forward to welcoming a wide array of Indiana faith leaders from various communities, traditions and beliefs for a time of fellowship and refreshment with our State's Chief Executive Officer.

A formal invitation went out to about 3,000 faith leaders (pastors, ministry leaders, para-church professionals and other community leaders engaged in public ministry) several days ago, but I invite you to send this post (or a version of it more to your liking) to anyone you hope will attend.  As this is a free gathering focused on faith leaders, we do ask you limit the invitation to demonstrated faith community leaders, whether volunteer or paid.

The highlight of our gathering will be remarks by the Governor.  In addition, we will have a variety of materials guiding churches and other non-profits toward the activities they may engage in consistent with their tax-exempt status to inform and encourage faith-filled Hoosiers to fully participate in the political process.  But this is not a fundraiser nor is it a campaign rally.

Please encourage people to register online @ www.rsvp08.com/faithleaders so we can have an accurate count for planning purposes.

Blessings,

Curt Smith

Great turnout...about 625 pastors, ministers, rabbis, imans and other faith leaders from the Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh and Buddhist faiths. Also, among Christians, we had Orthodox, Catholic and all types and stripes of Protestants. I cannot prove this, but I believe it to be the most diverse "large meeting" gathering of Indiana faith leaders in our state's history....and the Governor, as always, was a most engaging leader to this group of leaders.

Glad to hear it! It's wonderful to see people of faith coming together.
