Opponents of California's Marriage Amendment threaten violence against supporters

In what could be a growing trend, "gay" activists are advocating violence against those who supported Proposition 8 in California (the constitutional amendment that defines marriage as between a man and a woman).  It looks like some of the proponents of "hate crimes" want to actually lead the way in committing them.

Here are examples of a few of the views of these "gay" activists:

"I swear, I'd murder people with my bare hands this morning."

"While financially I supported the Vote No, and was vocal to everyone and anyone who would listen, I have never considered being a violent radical extremist for our equal rights. But now I think maybe I should consider becoming one. Perhaps that is the only thing that will affect the change we so desperately need and deserve."

"Can someone in CA please go burn down the Mormon temples there, PLEASE. I mean seriously. DO IT."

"I'm going to give them something to be f---ing scared of. … I'm a radical who is now on a mission to make them all pay for what they've done,"

When people peacefully and rationally oppose radical leftist public policy ideas like "gay marriage" they are labeled "intolerant," but when "gay" activists threaten those who hold contrary views with death, you can hear crickets in newsrooms across the country.

The Anti-Cal Thomas

Common_ground_cover_400px_2 Frank Pastore has an excellent article at www.townhall.com and below that takes the opposite perspective of Cal Thomas regarding how Christians should handle politics.  Kurt and Curt had some excellent comments regarding a recent Thomas column on the Pulpit Initiative I have written about so much lately.  Thomas' growing intellectual schizophrenia is remarkable.  I wonder if Bob Beckel didn't sneak him some loony left cool-aid while they were working on their book together.  *smile*

Should Christians Argue Politics?

by Frank Pastore

'Our political and social policies should grow out of our theology, not vice versa.'

For the past several months, I’ve heard two recurring themes from critics of my show: “You’re too political and unloving; Christians shouldn’t argue about politics,” and “You’re not fair and balanced; you’re close-minded and too biased against liberals.”

Perhaps many Christians believe these things because they don’t understand politics is really an exercise of theology applied — one way we love our neighbors as ourselves. Our political and social policies should grow out of our theology, not vice versa. We are not to reverse engineer our theology based upon our political and social agendas. Our faith is foundational to everything else. For Christians, theology creates and shapes our approach to politics; for non-Christians, politics creates and shapes their approach to theology — or at least their worldview.

AP smears Sarah Palin and insults victims of sexual abuse (continued...)

In the last post I mentioned the AP story that smeared Gov. Palin and the Love Won Out conference.  In the video I included, Melissa Fryrear with Focus on the Family's Love Won Out confernce talked about the mischaraterizations the media have made about LWO.  Here is a full interview with Melissa on this topic.

What blows my mind about this discussion is how the mainstream media dismisses the professional counseling that LWO recommends as "praying away the gay."  On any other topic they would applaud promoting counseling as "raising awareness."  There are thousands of people out there who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction.  There are thousands more who have dedicated themselves to professional Christian counseling and enjoyed positive results.  If the topic were grief counseling or marriage counseling or addictions, depression, self-esteem issues, any other sexual issue, etc. the common message would be that counseling is a good thing.  However, because "gay" people want to address some of their mental health issues and make some changes in their lives it is open season to denigrate them!  The "GLBT" community should be up in arms over this, but instead they lead the charge to skewer those who would dare to choose a different path.

[Aside - Melissa Fryrear has an amazing story (as many of the LWO staff do) of giving her life to Christ, struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction and winning that struggle through her faith, the love of fellow Christians and professional Christian counseling.  I was able to spend a little time with her after the LWO conference when it came to Zionsville and she is a wonderful person.  She has such a tender heart for those like her, who stuggle with same-sex attraction.  She is a hero of mine.  She takes the harshest abuse from those she loves the most and has dedicated her professional life to serving.  If you ever get the chance to meet her you will be blessed...she is a sweet, sweet woman.]

Similarities between Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan

Sarah_palin_2Reagan_2 Here is an interesting piece on the comparison between Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan.  I did not put some of the similarities together at first.  They are quite striking.  Can true conservatism triumph within a McCain presidency?  Many are saying yes due to Gov. Palin.  Here is an excerpt:

Is Sarah Palin the Next Ronald Reagan?

Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan appear poles apart in their backgrounds. Before coming to the center stage of national politics, Palin was a small-town mother of five and Governor of Alaska, and Reagan, a Hollywood actor and Governor of California. But these and other dramatic differences mask surprising similarities, which now appear to merge at the intersection of time and circumstance.

Protecting Women and Babies in Allen County

In Allen County it has been reported that the commissioners there are considering an ordinance similar to that which was introduced in the Indiana General Assembly this year.

What the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette doesn't report is that the couple of doctors who actually perform abortions in Indiana usually fly in from out of state to do their dirty deeds.  There have been instances in which one of these doctors in particular has botched abortions and promptly left the state, leaving his scared, vulnerable female patient in serious need of medical care.  Making matters worse, the woman usually goes to the local ER, where the doctors on call have no assistance from the abortion doctor who actually performed the abortion.

This obviously puts the ER doctors at the local hospital in a tough spot, and makes it difficult to to track down the offending abortion doctor or hold him accountable.  Requiring the abortion doctor to have admitting priviledges in the local hospital is one way to hold these doctors of death accountable for the path of destruction they leave in their wake.

ATR applauds Indiana

Here is an interesting post from the American's for Tax Reform blog, Friends of ATR:

At lunch meeting with the Indianapolis Rotary Club today, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels proposed automatic state income-tax refunds when state revenues exceed a pre-determined level.

Refunds in the event of such surpluses would be returned to Indiana residents on the following year’s income tax filing.

“The point is very simple. The state would collect only what it needs to provide essential services and to protect itself in a downturn.” Other Governors would be keen to follow Daniels’ pro-taxpayer, pro-growth plan.

Indiana taxpayers had to work 191 days this year, well over half of the year, to pay for the cost of their government. Daniels’ proposal is a step toward ensuring Cost of Government Day comes earlier in the future.

What a novel idea...government collects funds to provide essential services and protect itself from an economic downturn and citizens keep the rest of their hard-earned money.  That seems like a pro-family policy to me.

Discover the Network

On a number of occasions I've read comments from our friends on the Left who read Veritas Rex take issue with the tax status of IFI or question of source of funding for the Pro-Family Movement.

But what David Horowitz has exposed through his website www.discoverthenetworks.org, a subsidiary of the Horowtiz Freedom Center, is disturbing enough to make one cringe.

Go to their home page and click "Funders" and you'll read what I have posted below. You can also get biographical information on the 1,237 individuals, 121 corporations, and 121 foundations identified for their funding of anti-Americanism. Horowitz, a former leftist campus radical is a brilliant tactician who understands the web of infrastructure the Left has created. Go to the site.

This section of DiscoverTheNetworks examines the immensely wealthy charitable foundations that provide financial backing for leftist groups and causes. These foundations (sometimes called endowments or charitable trusts) are nongovernmental, nonprofit entities whose assets are provided by donors and managed by their own officials, who each year earmark portions of their assets for what they consider to be socially useful purposes. Most of these foundations can be classified under the following categories:

Same-Sex "Marriage" proponents oppose diversity

Here is a video of Glenn Stanton of Focus on the Family.  He makes an interesting argument.  He makes the point that same-sex "marriage" is inherently anti-diversity because it denies a child either a mother or a father.  By promoting same-sex marriage our government would be agreeing with gay activists who claim that a father is not important to a child raised by two lesbians and a mother is not important to a child raised by two gay men.  Traditional marriage celebrates diversity because it embraces both mothers and fathers.  It does not discriminate against either mothers or fathers as same-sex marriage does.

Attacking Dr. Dobson

I love "Stoplight," the short youtube style videos that Stuart Shephard puts out.  They are entertaining and informative.  Here is one on some recent attack ads run on Christian radio against Dr. James Dobson...yes, you read that right.  Crazy stuff.

Congratulations Bilerico Project?

I want to congratulate my friend Bil Browning for the one year anniversary of releasing Bilerico Project in beta.  Though I rarely agree with what is said on his blog, I truly appreciate Bil's friendship.  As someone who has been in the blog business far longer than me, and even though his interests often are at odds with mine, Bil has graciously offered tips and advice that have helped Veritas Rex grow through infancy.

It is rare that I (a Conservative Christian activist) find an activist for "gay rights" that will actually sit down and carry on a civil discussion with me.  Bil has done this on several occassions and I have a great deal of respect for him because of his willingness to reach out to someone who is reaching out to him, looking for some common understanding in the midst of a larger battle of worldviews.

So, congratulations Bil!  I would be lying if I said I didn't want much of what you promote to fail, but know that I am rooting diligently for you personally.
